The Cisco Catalyst 4948 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switch is a high-performance solution designed for rack-optimized server switching. This 1-rack-unit (1RU), fixed-configuration Switch offers wire-speed, low-latency, Layer 2 to 4 capabilities, based on the established Cisco® Catalyst 4500 Series hardware and software architecture.
Exceptional Performance and Scalability
The Cisco Catalyst 4948 Switch leverages specialised resources known as ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) to deliver intelligent network services with high performance and scalability. Boasting ample TCAM resources (64,000 entries), the Cisco Catalyst 4948 supports concurrent provisioning of services such as Quality of Service (QoS) and security. This contributes to wire-speed routing and switching performance, ensuring both current network needs and future growth.
Port Configurations and Reliability
Featuring 48 ports of wire-speed 10/100/1000BASE-T and 2 ports of wire-speed 10 Gigabit Ethernet (X2 optics), the Cisco Catalyst 4948 provides a versatile solution for high-performance server and workstation aggregation. The switch offers exceptional reliability and serviceability through optional internal AC or DC 1+1 hot-swappable power supplies and a hot-swappable fan tray with redundant fans (Figures 1 and 2).
