This refurbished Dell PowerEdge R540 server is a part of Dells latest server range, Generation 14.
Processors
The Dell PowerEdge R540 server takes advantage of Intel’s Xeon scalable processors allowing you to choose from the 2nd generation of these processors which includes, Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum. This system can have up to 2 of these processors.
Memory
With the PowerEdge R540 you can have a total of 16 DDR4 memory modules when you have a two-processor configuration. If all of these are filled with load reduced (LRDIMM) memory you can have a maximum of 1TB of memory.
Hard Drives
The PowerEdge R540 only has one chassis type which is the 12x 3.5” with an option to install a rear-mounted drive cage which can support two more 3.5” hard drives for a total of 14” 3.5-inch drives. This server can take SAS / SATA HDDs and SSDs.
PCIe Slots
This Dell PowerEdge R540 rack server can support up to 5 PCIe slots depending on how many processors are installed and what riser has been installed. There are dedicated slots for a Network Daughter Card and one slot for a PERC RAID controller. If you want the rear storage cage in this server you will lose a PCIe slot, meaning there will only be 4 active slots.
