Overview The HP Smart Array P222 Controller is a low profile, 6 Gb/s, PCIe 3.0, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) RAID controller designed for enterprises with direct attach SAS storage. It provides entry-level storage performance, scalability, and data protection for select HP ProLiant Gen8 rack and tower servers. With four internal and four external SAS lanes, this controller offers increased server uptime and advanced storage functionality, including online RAID level migration, global online spare, and pre-failure warning. What's New The HP Smart Array P222 Controller now includes the features of the HP Smart Array Advanced Pack 2.0 at no additional cost. It also features HP SSD Smart Path, which intelligently chooses the optimum path to the SSD and accelerates reads for all RAID levels and RAID 0 writes, resulting in up to 4x better SSD read performance. It boasts up to 3x performance improvement over past generations with DDR3-1333 cache memory and supports up to 4 internal and 100 external drives for explosive growth. The 512MB flash back write cache (FBWC) is included as a standard feature for long term data retention. This controller also supports RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 50, and RAID 6 and 60, and features predictive spare activation for improved rebuild and maximized uptime.
