Outstanding performance The Flex System x240 Compute Node is a high-performance Intel Xeon processor-based server that offers outstanding performance for virtualization with new levels of CPU performance and memory capacity, and flexible configuration options. It is part of Flex System, a new category of computing that integrates multiple server architectures, networking, storage, and system management capability into a single system that is easy to deploy and manage. Built-in virtualization support Flex System has full built-in virtualization support of servers, storage, and networking to speed provisioning and increase resiliency. In addition, it supports open industry standards, such as operating systems, networking and storage fabrics, virtualization, and system management protocols, to easily fit within existing and future data center environments. Flex System is scalable and extendable with multi-generation upgrades to protect and maximize IT investments. Scalability and performance The x240 offers numerous features to boost performance, improve scalability, and reduce costs. The Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 product line increases productivity by providing improved system performance, up to 8 cores, up to 3.3 GHz core speeds, up to 20 MB of L3 cache, and QPI interconnect links of up to 8 GT/s, depending on the number of cores in the CPU. Compared to the Intel Xeon Processor 5600, the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 offers performance gains of up to 80%. Multi-threaded applications can run concurrently on up to two processors, 16 cores, and 32 threads. By momentarily exceeding processor TDP, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0's intelligent and adaptive system performance enables CPU cores to operate at maximum rates during peak workloads.
