Beer Description: Liefmans Kriek Brut is a cherry beer, made in a unique way. Firstly it starts off as an old brown beer that is macerated with fresh whole cherries. After it has matured for a year, it is then blended with various ages of Oud Bruin and Goudenband beer. It was the first brewery to wrap their beers by hand in tissue-paper. This beer received gold for the Speciality Fruit Beer at the Brewing Industry International Awards 2000 as well as winning the World’s Best Kriek Beer at the World Beer Awards 2009. In 2015, it was awarded a Gold Medal at the World Beer Awards for the category of “Belgium’s Best Kriek / Framboise”.
